Village staff previews Main Street Fest, Seasons of Cary schedule and constituent event with senator

Village staff used the Sept. 16 meeting to highlight a busy events weekend and upcoming public engagement opportunities.
Nick (village staff) reviewed details for Cary Main Street Fest, saying food trucks and live music will run Friday evening; Saturday programming will run roughly 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a family area, vendors and a car show; and Sunday will include a 5K and the farmers market. Staff asked for volunteers and listed orientations on the village website. The village noted the fire department will host a community pancake breakfast on Saturday morning and thanked the Cary Chamber of Commerce staff (named as Kathy and Lynn) for partnering on the event.
Director Simmons provided a scheduling update for the Seasons of Cary project. He said the project had been reviewed by the Zoning and Planning Authority (ZPA) and that the recommendation will be scheduled before the village board in October; staff clarified the item will be scheduled for the board’s October 20 meeting and said the village will notify the neighborhood and update the village website, marquee, mass-message sign-up and Facebook.
Staff also invited residents to a constituent event with State Senator Wilcox scheduled for next Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., where Illinois Tollway staff will be available to exchange old transponders for new I-PASS devices. The village said other agencies and project exhibits will also be present.
No formal board action resulted from these staff updates; they were informational.
