Trustees call for clear ownership and funding plan to implement resident-survey findings

Trustee Clayton told the board that while the resident survey work appears high quality, the board needs a clear implementation phase to act on the findings, assign responsibility and commit staff time and funds.
“In the resident survey, it's quite clear to me that we have really competent, high qualified people that are doing the survey, and I think we're gonna get really good information,” Trustee Clayton said. “But I think there's a phase 5 that may be missing, and that has to do with the actual implementation of anything that we find out.”
Trustees noted several existing documents and data sources that the new survey will join: a 2015 survey, a 2016 strategic plan, a campus survey, a land-use survey, a sustainability survey and the comprehensive plan. Trustee Trina (name noted in the transcript as Trustee Trina) urged assigning ownership and accountability so that responsibilities and deadlines are clear. Trustees discussed limits on staff capacity and suggested stronger partnerships with the RRA or adding staff to manage implementation.
Board members emphasized that implementing findings will require prioritization and budgeting. One trustee said staff already juggle many activities and that adding responsibilities without clear priorities or funds would be difficult. The transcript records no formal motion or vote on assigning ownership or funds; trustees asked staff to prepare approaches that identify who would lead implementation, estimated costs and possible partnerships.
The board confirmed its next meeting is Oct. 7 and then adjourned.
