Board approves personnel actions, service agreements, STARS support and two new buses

Under operations, the board accepted gifts totaling $8,937.74 and approved several agreements: services for special-needs students (Learn Well; A & G Educational Services/LEAP), a food-service sanitation program with Innovative Solutions Group Inc., auditory and speech-language therapist services via the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center and Wood County Educational Service Center, and a guest agreement with Camp Shindo for fifth-grade camp Sept. 22–26. The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with Bowling Green State University to host the math enrichment camp.
Board members discussed the STARS before- and after-school program: officials said Wood County Educational Service Center will operate STARS for the 2025–26 school year with a program value of $49,162.42 and zero dollars owed by Bowling Green City Schools for this year because the Wood County ESC is covering the cost while the state is distributing federal dollars differently this cycle.
The board authorized purchase of two Bluebird buses through the state cooperative bus program for $298,276 total (about $149,138 per bus at the discounted rate the district receives through the program). The board also approved a right-of-way easement to the city for the Bridal Road multi-use path and several student trips, including FFA to the national convention in Indianapolis (Oct. 27–29) and DECA to a conference in Arlington, Va. (Nov. 20–23).
Votes on the consent agenda items were recorded by roll call and carried. The board also adjusted upcoming meeting dates in October and November.
