Gerardo Carmona, director of utilities, told the council the lift station’s ultimate service area covers roughly 8,000 acres and that the upgrades will position the station to serve future development. Council requested that staff provide maps and timelines for residents; Carmona said staff will incorporate the project into the city’s capital program and publish a schedule after design. The contract is for engineering design and does not itself authorize construction; subsequent council actions will be required to approve bids and construction contracts. Council members asked staff to ensure the public is informed about the project footprint and schedule; staff agreed to provide a project map and estimated timeline after the design contract is underway.
