The Affordable Housing Commission voted to approve a seven-member neighborhood-revitalization subcommittee recommended by the nominations group. The slate includes Emery Maffey as the renter representative; Bob Prieby as the landlord/property manager representative; Caitlin McDaniel, staff attorney for Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio, as the renter advocate; Jennifer Collins as the research consultant; and Solvay as the commission's representative. Megan told the commission that Jim Kaufman will represent Ohio University.
Nut graf: the subcommittee is designed to include a cross-section of stakeholders — student renters, landlords, an experienced renter advocate, a research consultant and a commission member — to help carry out neighborhood-revitalization work including the proposed rental-inspection study.
Commission members moved to accept the slate; the motion passed without roll-call vote recorded in the transcript. "We reviewed the applications that we received to date," Megan said when presenting the slate. The motion passed with the recommendation from the committee; no formal abstentions or recorded nay votes were listed on the transcript.
Ending: The subcommittee will meet separately to advance the neighborhood-revitalization study and other related work; the commission asked members to coordinate schedule details outside the full commission meeting.
