City committees report multiple resurfacing agreements and Ward 9 infrastructure projects

Resurfacing and funding: Chairwoman Juany Garza summarized IT committee items authorizing joint-funding agreements with the state and construction engineering services agreements for multiple resurfacing projects; the committee recommended those items be placed on the consent agenda. Jason Bauer of the Department of Public Works said the resurfacing work uses standard mill-and-overlay techniques and described the work as removing “2 and a half, 3 inches off, 2 and a half, 3 inches back on.” He said the projects obtained funding through regional council and are expected to be on the November letting if timelines hold.
Wolf's Crossing multiuse path and regional partners: Alderman Bugg said a multiuse path will be built on Wolf's Crossing Road from Hoffman Boulevard east across the railroad to Wolf's Crossing Park in Naperville. He said the Will County Forest Preserve and Wheatland Township Road District will partner on the project and the forest preserve is taking the lead.
Ward 9 bridge and neighborhood projects: Bugg also recapped local Ward 9 investments, including a pedestrian bridge across Yola Road funded by Del Webb to provide a safer route to a local school; he said Del Webb paid for the bridge. Bugg said the ward secured more than $1.25 million for street resurfacing through engineering staff work combined with ward funds. He reported numerous community events and business openings in Ward 9, and said several new residential developments are under construction.
Disposition: The resurfacing and engineering-agreement items were reported as consent agenda items. No contract awards were finalized at the Sept. 16 Committee of the Whole; staff indicated projects are proceeding toward design, November bid lettings and next-year construction as weather allows.
