The West Bend Community Library board received its financial report for August on Tuesday, noting small interest earnings, two outgoing checks and a recent grant from the Washington County Charitable Foundation. Joseph reported the library earned $0.09 in interest in the program checking account and $47.06 in interest in the money market account. He said the library received an $875 grant from the Washington County Charitable Foundation; staff noted the money will be used in support of a multicultural Mother’s Day city event. Joseph also said two checks were issued, one to Language Lizard and one to Nazia Karimi for an Afghan display. Board members asked for clarification about the Washington County funds and whether they had affected year-to-date totals; Joseph confirmed county funds had been received and that they helped explain recent increases in balances. The board also reviewed the draft budget timeline: staff said the budget would be presented to the city council on Oct. 6 and that small adjustments were still possible, including wage adjustments for an evaluated position and a higher-than-anticipated pay scale for a bilingual position. The consent agenda (including August minutes and August expenditures) was approved with a single correction to the Train chiller date in the minutes.
