Joe, the building official, told the Facilities and Maintenance Committee that the office processed 34 permits in August with a combined construction value of $1,804,843 and total permit fees of $5,397.80. He said the office is migrating to iWORK permit software and holding weekly meetings to build permit templates; staff also completed GIS data transfer to the new system and are working to enable credit‑card payments.
Joe said he was actively inspecting 24 properties in various construction phases and had “way more solar projects than I had imagined” countywide. He said there are 12 brand‑new single‑family homes under construction across the county and he expects that number could rise to about 15 by the end of the construction season. He characterized the housing activity as a positive sign of local investment.
Committee members thanked Joe; no questions were raised and the report did not result in formal committee action.
