The City of Davenport Housing Authority is conducting interviews for a new administrative assistant after the previous assistant, Quintana, was promoted to a position in public works and left the housing department.
Malia, a housing authority staff member, told the Housing Commission that Quintana’s last day was the prior Friday and that the authority opened a short application window and has completed numerous interviews. “We conducted probably 15 interviews last week and we've got 8 more interviews this week,” Malia said.
Staff said the application was open for two weeks and included in-house applicants; the authority prioritized finding a candidate with a “very unique skill set” because the department oversees housing rehabilitation, Housing Choice Voucher operations, and economic development work. Malia said the prior administrative assistant helped “change a lot of processes” and was “very efficient,” and staff hope to avoid a months-long vacancy.
No formal action was taken. Malia said the authority hopes to hire soon and is working through interview rounds.
