Superintendent reports strong start to school year; new instructional coach and robust PTO activity noted

Superintendent Russo reported a positive start to the school year and highlighted staff energy, student engagement and new personnel. "I felt like the energy, the staff coming back was really positive," Russo said, adding that convocation and teacher-of-the-year remarks had set a constructive tone. Russo told the board she visited classrooms on the first day and praised student council and seniors for welcoming ninth graders. The superintendent announced an instructional coach has started at BCS to support reading instruction and teacher development. Athletics are active with soccer, volleyball and cross-country, and the superintendent noted several upcoming PTO events, including a walkathon on Oct. 16 and a trunk-or-treat partnership with the recreation department on Oct. 24. Russo also reminded the board of an early-release professional development day the district will use for teacher collaboration.
