Board approves routine transfers and district activity funds; FY25 closeout reported

The Board of Education approved routine budget transfers and the carryover of nonfiduciary district activity fund balances into fiscal year 2026. The finance committee reported that a transfer of roughly $1,000 involved transportation accounts, while the remaining transfers were smaller. The committee said the district was about 98% expended for fiscal year 2025, leaving about $236,000 to return to the town as a contribution for the next year. "The only thing I'd point out is the larger item for about a thousand dollars is just transfers with any transportation," the finance committee member said. The board also approved nonfiduciary activity funds as of June 30, 2025: approximately $15,000 at BCH and about $25,000 at BHS, funds described in materials as unrestricted and used to support student activities such as sports and other school programs. A motion to approve the transfers and a separate motion to approve carrying the activity fund balances were both adopted by voice vote with members responding "Aye."
