Board approves purchase of two 18-foot Sure-Trac trailers for forestry work

The Board of Public Works and Capital Assets approved the purchase of two 18-foot, 10,000-pound Sure-Trac trailers from Mike’s Trailer Sales Inc. for $11,574 to replace older trailers used by the forestry crew. Staff reported the current 2007 trailers were not commercial grade, had rust and failing welds, and had been overloaded. Replacing them was presented as a timely maintenance need for forestry operations. Staff said the trailers are available immediately and that the purchase would be made from surplus proceeds in the capital improvement program. A motion to purchase the trailers was made and adopted by roll call on Sept. 16. The motion in the minutes names Mike’s Trailer Sales as the vendor and lists the purchase amount as $11,574. A lower quote from another vendor was noted in staff comments but the motion references Mike’s Trailer Sales as the selected source. The board did not set a separate implementation schedule during the meeting; staff said the trailers are available for immediate delivery.
