Council appoints David Kerr to finish seat on Development Review Board

Newport — The Newport City Council on Sept. 15 appointed David Kerr to fill a vacancy on the Development Review Board, completing the term that had belonged to Council member Andrew Touchett.
Frank Cheney presented Kerr’s memo and said Kerr had been interviewed by both the planning commission and the Development Review Board and recommended for the village vacancy. Kerr could not attend because of a prior engagement, and councilors noted his prior attendance at feasibility meetings as a matter of civic interest.
Council action: a motion to appoint David Kerr was made and seconded; the council voted by voice and the motion carried.
Next steps: city staff will process the appointment and notify Mr. Kerr of his start and any required orientation or ethics filings.
