The Warren City Council authorized the disposition of two surplus police vehicles at its Sept. 15 meeting. City staff presented the two vehicles — both described as 2020 Ford Police Interceptor models — for disposition under city code because they have been replaced by new vehicles purchased earlier in the year.
City fleet staff told council the department has moved from a roughly four‑year rotation to a five‑year rotation through improved preventive maintenance and that vehicle purchases are staggered so replacements occur in pairs. The two outgoing vehicles were being replaced by units purchased and currently undergoing upfitter work.
Council moved and seconded authorization for disposition in a manner permitted by city code; the motion carried on roll call with five affirmative votes. Staff said the vehicles will be disposed of once new units enter service.
