City approves multiple budget transfers and an $11,000 legal settlement

The transfers included: $5,000 in the Department of Transportation Services (DTS) from central maintenance contract services to central maintenance other equipment; $10,000 in the Department of Internal Services split into two $5,000 moves to central maintenance supplies and to central maintenance equipment; a $30,000 transfer within the Water Department to cover transmission and distribution supplies and materials related to repair invoices; an $85,000 transfer within a department for power-related supplies and contracted services; and smaller transfers for recreation and records storage. The meeting record also shows a $500,000 increase in revenue and a matching $500,000 increase to a reservoir expense line to reflect increased grant funding for the Basic Creek dam restoration project. The meeting packet listed one legal settlement payment of $11,000 to a person identified as Hester for claims arising during an arrest; the payment was described as a legal settlement in the record.
Sandra Bass, deputy chief's city auditor, presented the items and noted the transfers were to move previously budgeted amounts between specific line items so departments could cover expected costs. Treasurer Darius Sandhardt was present for the presentation. The motion to approve the transfers and the settlement was moved by RC Treasurer Diane Chantper and seconded by Common Councilwoman Sonia Fredericks; the motion passed with members voting in favor as recorded.
