The City of Talent Planning Commission voted on Feb. 25 to recommend that City Council direct staff to send planning commissioners the same notice that is mailed to affected jurisdictions and neighbors for Type‑2 administrative applications.
Commissioner Riley moved the recommendation and a second was recorded; the item passed on a roll call vote. Commissioners said receiving the same notice as jurisdictions and neighbors would allow them to follow projects earlier in the process, offer timely comments and raise issues before administrative decisions close.
Why it matters: Type‑2 administrative decisions can approve site plans, conditional uses or other permits without a public hearing; the commission said being aware of pending administrative decisions earlier would increase oversight and reduce the chance that visible problems are missed.
Staff noted that the notice already goes to agencies during the pre‑application stage and suggested planning commissioners could also receive pre‑application notices; commissioners expressed interest in receiving initial agency notices so they can review applications as they advance.
