City staff told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Sept. 3 that the city’s general-plan update will be presented to the City Council on Sept. 9 and that the commission will receive the presentation afterward.
Staff also notified commissioners that the first hearing on a major general-plan amendment will be held Oct. 1 in a different location — the old police department meeting room — because state law requires two different hearing locations for a major general-plan amendment. “That’s required because state law requires 2 different locations for a major general plan amendment for the 2 hearings,” said Mister Gilbert, city staff.
Staff said the Oct. 1 location was chosen after searching for an alternate site and that the second hearing and related rezone hearing will occur at the regular commission meeting location. Staff warned that the old meeting room will need preparations before it can be used and that city staff are working to ready the space.
There was no formal action taken on the announcements; they were posted as correspondence and meeting logistics. The commission’s next meeting was listed as Sept. 17, when staff will present a brief general-plan update to the commission.
