Committee reviews conceptual plans for Charles W. Bush early education center; Concord High replacement application continues

The Brandywine School District—s maintenance advisory committee reviewed conceptual plans for a proposed Charles W. Bush Early Education Center and discussed the district—s continuing application to the Delaware Department of Education to replace Concord High School.
Committee members said the Bush center presentation included schematics, 3-D renderings and early blueprints. "It was very interesting to see the schematics, to see blueprints, 3-D pictures... A lot of thought and a lot of hard work has definitely been put into it," the committee reported. Mr. Reid was singled out for his work assembling presentations and materials.
On Concord High, committee members described a submission made in August 2025 to the Department of Education requesting replacement of the Concord High School building. The committee noted it does not anticipate the Department of Education will approve a replacement at this time, but that the application will remain on file and the district will continue advocacy efforts.
There was no formal vote; the discussion was presented as part of regular facilities planning. Committee members said additional steps and approvals will be required before any construction can begin.
