The Calamasa City Council on Sept. 15 appointed two council members to an annexation ad hoc committee to pursue negotiations regarding the 78‑acre Golden Triangle site at the southeast corner of the I‑10/Cherry Valley Boulevard interchange.
City staff described the site as unincorporated Riverside County land that has been the subject of municipal interest and noted a 2022 LAFCO Municipal Services Review listing the area as a historical annexation interest. Staff recommended the council appoint two members to an ad hoc committee and directed the city manager to request the City of Beaumont appoint two council members for a joint negotiation process.
Council Member Manley and Mayor Molina volunteered; the council voted to appoint Mayor Molina and Council Member Cundiff to the ad hoc committee. Council directed staff to ask Beaumont to appoint a matching committee so both cities can attempt to reach agreement before any formal annexation actions.
