City staff recommended the funding, saying the conversion will complement recent improvements in the Commercial District and “activate the area by creating a small footprint retail space not currently available,” Director Tomoshenko told the council. The executive summary and grant agreement, included in the council packet, also contained photos and proposed elevations of the project.
The applicant was present and told the council the business is excited about the project and available to answer questions. Council members asked no follow-up questions during the presentation. The resolution passed with 10 affirmative votes, 0 negative votes and 1 council member absent.
The grant will be reimbursed after eligible work is completed and documented under the terms in the provided agreement, city staff said. The council did not add conditions beyond those in the executive summary and grant agreement.
The City Clerk recorded the formal approval. Further administrative steps include recording the grant agreement and processing reimbursement after inspection and submission of required invoices.
