Redevelopment commission ratifies sale of Larison Boulevard site to battery‑materials supplier NCAM

The Redevelopment Commission voted Sept. 6 to ratify the sale of county‑owned property at 56120 Larison Boulevard to NCAM for $451,059. Staff told commissioners NCAM is a manufacturer of battery electrolyte materials with facilities overseas and in the U.S.; the company has expressed interest in the Larison site as a supplier for the GM/Samsung project in the IEC. Staff said the project is projected to employ about 70 people and could represent roughly $100 million of private investment, though those numbers may change as the company finalizes plans and state incentives. The purchase agreement had already been signed by staff because of time constraints; the commission voted to ratify that signature and approve the sale by unanimous consent. Staff said the commission previously solicited bids for the parcel and NCAM was the successful bidder. Commissioners asked staff to continue coordinating with NCAM and state economic development officials on incentive and workforce details; no additional county appropriations were approved at this meeting related to the sale.
