City hosts regional agencies to coordinate SR‑99 design for Tacoma Dome Link extension

Milton — City planning staff said they hosted representatives from Sound Transit, WSDOT, Pierce Transit and the City of Federal Way on Monday to coordinate design decisions for the Tacoma Dome Link extension’s effects on State Route 99.
Planning Manager Stalenecker told the council that Milton hosted one of three in-person coordination meetings with the transit and state agencies and that the session focused on design issues including shared-use paths, landscaping and other corridor options. “I think today's was really productive, of looking at what we're all gonna want for design, shared use pass, landscaping, how what are the different options, so that everyone can kind of be on the same page,” Stalenecker said.
Stalenecker said the city will continue the series of meetings with Pierce Transit next month and noted the city attended a session in Federal Way last month. The meetings are intended to align expectations and to identify which design elements each agency will carry forward into project design and permitting.
No formal action was requested of the council in the meeting; staff presented the coordination update as part of director reports and said follow-up coordination and consultant meetings are planned. Planning staff said they will share consultant reports with council members after tomorrow's meeting with the consultant.
