The City Council approved a renewal of a land lease with Randy Meyer covering about 86 acres of city‑owned land for general agricultural use.
Staff said the lease increases the rent to $80 per acre, producing annual rent of $6,880 payable in three equal installments. The lease will commence in September and conclude in December 2026. The lessee must provide liability insurance, with coverage increases described by staff: $250,000 per person, $500,000 per occurrence and $100,000 for property damage.
Council asked whether property taxes would be the lessee’s responsibility; staff said property taxes are the responsibility of the landowner under the terms of the lease and could be included in a triple‑net arrangement. The lease was described as a renewal with largely the same terms but updated to increase insurance limits and adjust the rent.
On a motion to authorize the city manager and city clerk to sign the agreement, the council approved the renewal by voice vote.
