Student representatives highlight arts, athletics, clubs and MCTI events

Student representatives from East Stroudsburg North and South high schools and a student from Monroe County Technical Institute (MCTI) presented highlights at the Sept. 15 school board meeting.
East Stroudsburg North senior Lawrence Cruz and board representative Dylan Perry described staff transitions, arts participation at the Delaware Water Gap festival, senior parking paint projects, student-run broadcasting (North Drive Live) and upcoming homecoming events including a hallway-decorating competition and a senior "sunrise" on Sept. 26. Cruz also noted the school’s new administrative team and new faculty and thanked them for stabilizing the school climate.
East Stroudsburg South’s student representative reported a successful freshman preview night, staff recognitions (security staff and teachers of the month), a senior sunrise with refreshments, a new student-run store during third block, and a Future Educator cohort recruiting more than two dozen tutors for the 2025–26 year. South also highlighted athletics, a new scoreboard multimedia class, and internship opportunities tied to sports media production.
MCTI student representative Kaylin Ola Tamora said MCTI will host a fall occupational adviser meeting Sept. 25 and a National Connections Day with the Pocono Home Builders Association on Sept. 26. Tamora said career and technical student organizations will be conducting membership drives, fundraisers and officer elections in the coming weeks.
Board members thanked the student representatives and encouraged them to bring concerns or suggestions to the superintendent and board members throughout the year.
