Golf commission hears operations update: registration changes, aeration demo and equipment quotes

Maintenance and equipment: staff reported they demoed a solid-tine aerator that makes holes without pulling plugs and used it on roughly 75% of trouble spots in fairways; they also overseded affected areas but noted fairways have not been fertilized since June because of rain and irrigation schedules. Staff said they are waiting on another quote for a lease-to-own equipment package and plan to demo additional equipment and phase in purchases in spring. "As soon as that happens, 1 of those 2 things happen, we can go up and fertilize that seed that we put down," a grounds staffer said of expected growth before winter.
Technology and staffing: staff said they will run an initial drone mapping session to learn regulatory constraints and piloting options, and they are training part-time staff now to be ready for next season.
Participation and membership: Dan said recent membership additions include three senior adults who joined after outreach; he said the course's membership is doing well but that facility limitations (the restaurant and pro shop conditions) limit revenue opportunities.
