Board hears enrollment decline, staffing gaps and multiple construction updates

The board was told staffing vacancies include a second full-time school psychologist, an instructional-coach vacancy created by a promotion, an open director of human resources posting, and positions for security support and early-head-start education and disabilities coordination.
Construction updates covered the high school auditorium and learning commons, restroom renovations, and a roof replacement that district officials said is state-funded and must be submitted for reimbursement by March 2027. The life-center project drawings are being finalized; architects told the board their schedule estimates roughly 14 months of work with a January start likely. The district also reported the broadband project was about 72% complete (roughly 110 of 152 planned cable miles installed).
Other operational items included the Prime Time program at Blake (20 students registered and expected to grow) and plans to open a second school-based health-clinic site at Blakeney to reduce cross-campus travel for students.
