Village endorses Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Greenest Region Compact to join EV readiness program

The village board voted to endorse the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Greenest Region Compact so the village can participate in the caucus's Electric Vehicle (EV) readiness program. Manager Andy Perini introduced Hannah Teams, an administrative intern, who presented the item and explained the village had been accepted into the EV readiness program.
"To be a member of the program, the village needs to adopt the Greenest Region Compact," Hannah Teams told the board. She said membership is intended to make communities more competitive for sustainability grants, including those supporting electric-vehicle infrastructure and stormwater management, and that membership carries no direct financial cost.
Teams said the EV readiness program provides code review assistance for EV infrastructure and training for staff and first responders dealing with EV incidents; she noted the Pingree Grove Fire Protection District would receive EV-related training later in the month. She listed nearby communities that have joined the compact, including Hampshire, Burlington, West Dundee and Elgin.
A motion to endorse the Greenest Region Compact passed on a roll-call vote. The endorsement enables the village to participate in the EV readiness program and positions the village to pursue related grant opportunities; no funding commitments were recorded in the meeting.
