Caribou awards riverfront master plan contract to Razer Landscape Architecture for $50,000

The Caribou City Council voted Sept. 15 to award a $50,000 contract to Razer Landscape Architecture of North Yarmouth, Maine, to prepare a riverfront master plan for two city-owned properties.
Economic and community development specialist Eric Sanderson told the council the request for proposals solicited five submissions and that the Riverfront Redevelopment Committee and council liaisons met on Sept. 3 to review the proposals. The committee recommended Razer on the basis of national experience, design breadth and references, including a reference who credited Razer9s work for enabling a successful USDOT grant application in another Maine town.
Sanderson said staff completed reference checks and the committee found the references "pretty glowing." Councilors who reviewed the submittals said Razer stood out for its ability to gather community ideas and synthesize them into a cohesive plan.
Councilor Bagley moved to accept Razer9s proposal for $50,000; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Staff said the master plan will gather ideas from residents and stakeholders and provide a cohesive blueprint for future recreation, business and waterfront uses on the selected city properties.
