The City of Claremont Code Enforcement Board on Sept. 15 tabled a fine-reduction request for Colonial Tile & Pavers, case C2412-0006, after no representative of the respondent appeared at the hearing. The city had recommended reducing accrued fines to 20% of the total if the respondent sought reduction and appeared to explain the circumstances, but staff said they do not ordinarily press reductions when the respondent is absent. The board voted to table the item to the end of the meeting and later directed staff to contact the respondent about whether they wish to appear at the next agenda. No formal reduction or rescission was adopted at the meeting. The item will return to a future agenda if the respondent requests placement and appears to present reasons for the reduction.
