At a recent Common Housing Authority meeting, staff reported that Village Green Apartments on Drown Road are close to full occupancy after repairs and a change in mechanical-service provider. Manager Matt said he spoke with Sylvia, a tenant leader at the property, who reported the tenants were "quite happy" with current management.
Matt told the board that the property has recently replaced the firm providing heating and other mechanical services and that previously reported heating and cooling problems have been resolved. "She feels that things are going quite well over there right now," Matt said.
Staff reported two units open: one has been vacant for a short time and a second will be available in October after a resident died earlier in the month. The manager said the property is "close to full occupancy" and that tenants did not raise management concerns when he spoke to them.
Separately, staff reported that a fence project at the town’s senior housing began the morning of the meeting. Board members and staff also noted the authority maintains a capital reserve plan and is monitoring future needs such as heating plant replacements and the recently approved expansion of the town solar field (council action referenced by staff) as potential sources of utility allocation.
The manager and housing administrator said they have data on current utility usage and that the authority maintains a reserve review to plan for upcoming capital work. Board members praised the property’s maintenance and capital planning.
Next steps
Staff will continue regular maintenance, track unit availability and coordinate any tenant outreach related to future policy changes. The board flagged heating systems and potential solar allocation as items for future capital planning.
