SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Southborough Public Library trustees on Sept. 15 supported staff requests to close early on two holiday evenings: the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. Staff said usage on those evenings is very low and asked to close at 5 p.m. on both days rather than remain open until the usual late hour. Trustees indicated agreement and asked the director to proceed and to coordinate staffing so essential services remain covered. The director said she would confirm details with staff and publicize the changes. Trustees and staff noted that some patrons might expect evening hours; the director said the library would continue normal daytime hours and give advance notice to the public. The board did not take a formal roll‑call vote; trustees expressed consensus and authorized the director to implement the revised hours for those two holiday evenings.
