SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Southborough Library Board of Trustees voted Sept. 15 to remove a small diagonal asphalt path from the Route 30/85 intersection that leads to the library’s book‑drop entrance and to remediate the area, using state aid funds. The trustees voted to remove and remediate the asphalt path and to use state aid funds to pay for the work. Trustee Amy seconded the motion; the board proceeded to a voice vote and the clerk recorded aye votes from members including Eckberg, Davis, Tinti, Yazdani, Mainy (Maney) and Landry. Trustees discussed whether the project should be funded from library funds or state aid; after an initial motion to use library funds, the board amended and approved using state aid funds to cover the cost and asked staff to confirm DPW assistance for seeding or remediation. Board members said the removal will improve the look of the front grounds; staff will coordinate the work with the Department of Public Works and confirm final funding details with accounting before work begins.
