Haslet staff say Verona Drive failed due to poor compaction; city to pay repairs after maintenance bond expired

The city performed scope inspections on the sewer line under the failing road and reported the sewer was not compromised.
City Engineer Michael Anderson told the council that because the developer's maintenance bond period (two years) expired before the deterioration was discovered, the city is responsible for repairs and will schedule corrective work. Staff said the affected segment is approximately 380 feet running north from Syracuse Street. Council members were told the city would perform the necessary repairs; staff will report details at a forthcoming workshop on street failures.
The council received the update as part of routine administrative project reporting and did not take a separate formal vote on the repair method at the Sept. 15 meeting.
