Lisle residents raise concerns about recent ditch work and delayed newsletter affecting brush pickup

Two residents used the public-comment portion of the Sept. 15 Lisle Village Board meeting to raise concerns about recent public works and village communications. Susan Cyril criticized recent ditch restoration in her neighborhood, saying the contractor “did a horrible job” and that backfilled areas are now overrun with weeds. She urged trustees to drive the affected streets, naming Kingston as an area she asked the board to inspect. Cyril said the work left residents with yards in poor condition. Alice Sosnowski, who identified herself as an Oak View resident with low vision, said she did not receive the village newsletter in time to know the scheduled brush pickup and missed the collection. She said the newsletter marked as an August issue was received Sept. 8, after the brush pickup deadline, and asked who is responsible for timely distribution. During trustee discussion, several board members acknowledged the concern and suggested exploring options to adjust mailing schedules or provide additional outreach so residents receive seasonal service notices earlier. Trustee Lesniak and Trustee Duffy suggested tighter timelines or alternative dissemination tactics given recent postal delays. Resident Dan Greco, speaking later during public comment on another agenda item, also referenced roadway restoration and noted that some of the exposed soil may be temporary pending final restoration steps; he encouraged patience while staff completes final erosion control and seeding. Village staff said they would take the newsletter timing concern under advisement. No formal board action was taken; trustees discussed potential operational follow-up and offline conversations about timing and distribution.
