Supervisors ratify SRO contract with Fort Thomas Schools; county retains officer payroll, district pays $75,000

Graham County supervisors ratified an annual intergovernmental agreement on Sept. 15 to provide a school resource officer (SRO) to Fort Thomas Schools.
County Manager Dustin Welker said Officer Lacey has served in the role for three to four years and that Fort Thomas “are very happy with her work.” Under the agreement, the county carries the officer’s salary and employment-related expenses while Fort Thomas Schools pays the county $75,000 per year for the position.
Welker described the arrangement as “a little bit of a satellite office on the Far West side of town,” and said the officer can respond to emergencies as needed. The county said the contract structure is the same as in prior years; Fort Thomas approved the agreement in June but the county received the signed document late, prompting a ratification rather than initial approval.
A motion to ratify the intergovernmental agreement was made and seconded; the board approved the ratification by voice vote. No fiscal changes beyond the $75,000 payment were announced at the meeting.
The county noted the arrangement supports school safety and maintains officer presence in that part of the county.
