Decatur County commissioners on Sept. 15 approved three use-of-facilities requests: the Hoosier Trails Boy Scouts may use the fairgrounds parking lot on Sept. 22 for a model-rocket launch; the county visitors commission was granted access to courthouse restrooms to support a rescheduled tour set for Oct. 4 from noon to 3 p.m., supervised by Brian Robbins; and New Directions was granted permission to change the courthouse clock tower lighting to purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month from Oct. 1–31.
The Boy Scouts provided a certificate of insurance; staff discussed locating the launch area near the track to avoid overhead lines and asked the organizers to ensure sufficient safety range. Commissioners asked staff to identify the specific parking lot to the Boy Scouts so county staff would be on site.
All three requests were approved by voice vote. County staff will coordinate details with event organizers and vendors.
