The Elmhurst City Council on Monday authorized a notice of award and the execution of a contract for the Crestview Avenue sidewalk project, with construction funded by Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) dollars and reported to be under budget.
Alderman Bastido and other proponents asked for suspension of the rules and prompt award so work could begin before colder weather and be completed before Halloween. “It's been a project. It's been a couple years in the making,” Bastido said, noting local interest in timely construction.
Council approved the resolution unanimously, 14–0. Staff said the award came in under budget and that engineering schedules will proceed with contractor mobilization once the documents are executed.
