Council member Jim McNulty told the mayor and city council on Sept. 15 that Meals on Wheels of Gaithersburg has relocated operations to the Benjamin Gaither Center after logistical changes required a new site. McNulty said the program has operated for more than 44 years and previously worked out of Asbury; the city partnered with Meals on Wheels to enable operations at the Benjamin Gaither Center. He described the program as providing not only meals but social connection and a way for many older residents to age in place. McNulty encouraged residents who could benefit or volunteer to contact Meals on Wheels; he said the organization’s work includes delivery and social contact, and noted that some clients receive their only daily human contact from delivery drivers. No budget or operational details beyond the relocation were provided in the meeting record.
