Gaithersburg proclaims September 2025 as Recovery Month, honors Wells Robertson House

Mayor Judd Ashman and the mayor and city council proclaimed September 2025 as Recovery Month in Gaithersburg at their Sept. 15 meeting and recognized the city‑operated Wells Robertson House, a transitional housing program serving people experiencing homelessness and recovery from substance use disorders. The proclamation, read at the meeting, invoked the nationally adopted Recovery Month theme “Every person, every family, every community” and noted that the city joins the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in hosting outreach and celebration activities. The city listed two upcoming events tied to recovery month: an annual recovery picnic on Sept. 28 hosted by Wells Robertson House residents featuring guest speakers and a graduation ceremony, and a family dinner on Sept. 30 hosted by residents. Accepting the proclamation was Sean Jay, a Wells Robertson House program participant, who spoke briefly to thank the city on behalf of residents.
