Board discusses meeting practices, executive sessions and committee roles ahead of fall work plan

"If it's not allowable under executive order and I'm not comfortable reading it out in public, I'll probably call on the board chair and say, hey. I want you to know this," she said.
Board members discussed practical steps to make school visits more useful for both board members and school staff — suggestions included notifying school front desks about official visits, posting photos/bios so front-office staff can identify visiting board members, and providing logistical supports such as a cart to move materials. The superintendent said Andrea (staff) will help coordinate and that principals should prepare front-office staff for visits.
On committees and representation, the superintendent encouraged members to nominate themselves for external roles (OSBA policy committee and other regional groups) before the September 30 nomination deadlines and proposed distributing bargaining and advocacy responsibilities among board members to spread time commitments during the upcoming bargaining year.
The board did not take votes on committee assignments at the meeting; the superintendent said nominations and role confirmations will be handled in upcoming sessions.
