Senior center director asks CLB for help finding larger space and kitchen upgrades

Harley Robinson, director of the Cobb County senior center, told the Cobb County legislative body the center occupies three rooms in the Tanner Building and is outgrowing its space as participation grows. "We currently are in the Tanner Building. We've occupied 3 rooms," Robinson said, adding that turnout is increasing and that space constraints limit the center's ability to provide services. A staff member identified as Caroline said the health department requires a commercial three‑compartment sink and a hand‑washing sink for continued meal preparation; installing those items would require plumbing and electrical work and would be costly. Commissioners said the budget committee is the appropriate place to explore building and funding options and directed staff to refer the matter to the budget committee for follow up. Robinson and staff asked for any assistance to obtain a larger facility or funding for required kitchen modifications to continue the center's meal program and activities.
