Environmental health staff updated the Comm County Board of Health on Sept. 16 about seasonal outreach, billing and staffing.
The lede: Staff marked Septic Smart Week and encouraged septic system owners to schedule inspections. They also reported that food-program invoicing season has begun, with more than 400 invoices issued and about half returned so far.
Environmental Health staff member Jen Garsalan said next week’s Riverfest and Crabfest events will involve department participation, and that the new on-site inspection team — together for a few months — is continuing training. "We have this core group that's, have been together for a couple months, but seem pretty strong," Garsalan said.
The department also said it will continue to post air-quality and smoke advisories through communications staff when forecasts indicate smoke events. Staff asked board members to share public-health materials and to send any emergent monitoring results to the county communications lead for posting.
Ending: No formal action was taken. Staff said invoicing is due at the end of the month, that they will continue outreach for septic inspection and event food-safety oversight, and that they will coordinate with communications for smoke- and heat-related advisories.
