Council authorizes $217,335 engineering agreement for Duncan Road bridge replacement

On Sept. 16 the Champaign City Council authorized the city manager to execute an engineering services agreement with Engineering Resource Associates Inc. of Champaign in an amount not to exceed $217,335. The agreement covers design of a replacement bridge structure and associated roadway improvements for the span carrying Duncan Road over the Copper Slough between Blair and John streets.
Council Bill 2025-161 passed unanimously, 7-0. Staff presented the contract ceiling and described the scope as bridge design and related roadway work. The council recorded no amendments and instructed staff to proceed with final design and procurement planning.
The authorization allows the city to move into detailed design; further steps will include bidding and construction authorization at later meetings.
