City Clerk Christine Vershae Hall asked the council on Sept. 15 to approve six additional temporary sign permits for Mister Auto Care, 2424 Plainfield Road, for 60 consecutive days while the business awaits installation of a permanent sign. The council moved, seconded and approved the temporary permits by roll call.
Council members asked about the type and placement of the signs; the clerk and other council members said the temporary signs were typically feather flags or similar banners and noted the permanent sign would still need to comply with the city’s sign ordinance and, if necessary, go to the plan commission and council for approval.
Clerk Vershae Hall also announced a free community shred event, in partnership with Lockhart Township government, to be held Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the front parking lot of City Hall; she said attendees are asked to limit materials to about four boxes each. Volunteers were invited to sign up to help.
The permits allow temporary on-site advertising for the auto-care business while the permanent sign is installed; the clerk said staff will enforce sign-ordinance compliance when permanent signage is proposed.
