Cabarrus Schools schedules Coltrane Webb attendance-boundary community meeting for Sept. 17

Cabarrus County Schools will hold a community meeting on Sept. 17 for the Coltrane Webb STEM Elementary attendance boundary project, Superintendent Dr. John Kopicki announced at the Sept. 15 board meeting. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the gym at R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary and is the first of two stakeholder engagement sessions planned for the project.

Dr. Kopicki said the meeting will give parents and community members who expect to send children to the new Coltrane Webb school an opportunity to "get a feel" for what the new school will look like; he said the design will mimic R. Brown McAllister. The district directed parents and community members to the CCS Engage website for additional materials about the attendance boundary project and said families should attend to learn about next steps.

The superintendent also reminded parents about a staff professional day on Sept. 23 when most students will be off and noted the district's fourth annual Futures Fair scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Cabarrus Arena and Event Center.

No decisions about final boundaries were taken at the meeting; the transcript shows this was an informational announcement encouraging community participation in the boundary process.
