Council approves two community fundraisers: Lions Club mint sale and Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll sale

The Richmond City Council approved two special‑event requests for fall fundraising sales.
Council approved a request from the Richmond Lions Club to conduct a mint sale at the County Line Road and St. Clair Highway intersection on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Council removed a requested rain date (Oct. 11) after staff noted that date conflicted with another organization’s sale; the Lions agreed to sign a liability waiver.
The council also approved the Richmond Knights of Columbus annual Tootsie Roll sale at Main/Division and County Line Road intersections on Friday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11, with Sunday, Oct. 12 reserved as the inclement‑weather date and a restriction that Knights not occupy the Main/Division intersection on Friday between 11 a.m. and noon. The Knights also agreed to sign a liability waiver.
City staff clarified both events will occur on the city side and that organizers must sign liability waivers; council approved both motions by voice vote.
