Dickson County joins state opioid abatement agreement; commission authorizes settlement participation

The Dickson County Commission on Sept. 15 passed a resolution authorizing the county to participate in the Tennessee State Subdivision opioid abatement agreement and to approve related settlement agreements. County legal staff said the county previously authorized broad participation in 2023 and the new resolution specifically names companies involved in current settlements. County counsel summarized prior action: the commission voted in 2023 to participate in opioid litigation with the Tennessee Attorney General's office taking the lead. The current resolution was described as more specific to particular companies now settling. Counsel said the county had not yet received details on settlement terms and that the mayor would be involved in reviewing specific terms when they are provided. Commissioner Spicer moved and Commissioner Williams seconded the resolution; the commission approved the measure on a voice vote of "aye." No dollar amounts or program allocations were on the table at the Sept. 15 meeting.
