Native Historical Commission elects officers; Select Board appointee fills vacancy

At the Sept. 15 meeting the Native Historical Commission approved a slate of officer rotations and acknowledged a recent commission vacancy and replacement.
By roll call vote, the commission approved the customary officer rotation: Vice Chair Leah Wilbert Corning will serve as chair, Secretary Megan Anderson will serve as vice chair, and Zohar P. Gorman agreed to serve as clerk/secretary. The motion to appoint the trio passed 6-0 with one absence.
Commissioners also noted that member Joe Morell resigned effective June 30; the Select Board has appointed Victor Seidel to fill the vacancy effective July 1. Commissioners welcomed Seidel during the meeting.
The outgoing chair said she would finish the current meeting and that Leah Wilbert Corning would preside at the next meeting. The commission recorded the officer elections and the Select Board appointment as separate, procedural actions; no change to the commission’s duties or bylaws was made.
The vote was recorded as unanimous among the six members present; the commission will follow up administratively to update contact lists and any role-specific responsibilities.
