Burke County Planning Commission on Sept. 15 approved the preliminary plan for a 6,139‑square‑foot Sheetz convenience store proposed on about 3.39 acres at the corner of Reliance Road and Hedgesville Road.
Planning staff said the developer is Sheetz and the engineer of record is Bending Consulting Group. The site is in the Hedgesville District (Tax Map 34, Parcels 11.18, 110.31 and 14) and would be served by public water and sewer. Staff reported no waivers or exceptions were requested and that County Engineer Doug Smith found the plan compliant with the Subdivision Ordinance (2009).
A representative identified in the record as Joseph Cruz spoke for the applicant. Commission members raised no substantive questions at the meeting; a motion to approve the preliminary plan was moved and seconded, the chair called the voice vote and the motion carried. Staff said subsequent steps will depend on any final plan submittal and required advertising for public hearings.
