The Columbia County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 10 read a proclamation designating Sept. 11, 2025 as Patriot Day and National Day of Remembrance and urged residents to observe the day with reflection and service.
The proclamation recounted the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and honored victims and first responders. Chairman Matthew Murrell read the document into the record and announced a public ceremony scheduled for the next morning; residents were invited to assemble by 8:30 a.m. for an event that starts at 8:46 a.m.
The proclamation is ceremonial and urges residents to observe the day with solemn reflection and acts of service. No ordinance, appropriation or formal county policy was proposed in the reading.
